A group of grey-haired gentlemen sit in solemn silence and listen to a recording of themselves 50 years ago in the past. As young men, medical they fought for Israel in the Six-Day War against the Arab Coalition of Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Against all odds, Israel won.
A week after the battles ended, a group of kibbutzniks - people living in the collective Kibbutz communities – informally interviewed the soldiers returning from the front. Among the interviewers were author-to-be Amos Ozand future-rabbi Avraham Shapira. The honesty of the common footmen revealed the ugliness of war – even the Six-Day War known as the fight between David and Goliath. In the revealing recollections the soldiers describe how a country’s legitimate fight for survival was corrupted in the chain of command and turned into a violent exploitation of the invaded territories, exploitation more or less acknowledged by the authorities.
